Going Back to Our Childhood Memories

What movie isn’t shown in 3d nowadays? Personally, I was getting annoyed by the fact that all movies were being advertised as being so much better with the 3d experience. Let’s see I have to pay more to be wearing glasses that make me look weird and can be uncomfortable at times. Hrmmm…. Nevertheless, if the movie is 3d you can’t possibly do the unthinkable by seeing the regular showing, right? This is true for The Lion King 3D .  The Lion King 3D has all the funny moments, tear jerker scenarios and life lessons as the movie we saw as kids. Timon and Pumbaa are still the perfect duo to make any person giggle at their ridiculous plans and cringe at their odd eating habits. Simba and Nala are still so cute with their romantic love blossoming from being just best friends as cubs disgusted at the thought of having to marry each other to the eventual creation of their own family and the leaders of their pride. The hyenas are still as evil as ever, with the slight exception of

Awwright! Awwright! Awwwwriiiight!

I don’t know about you, but I love a movie that can make me laugh. Comedy stand ups are always a hit when I’m looking to work out my abs the easy way. What happens when you combine the movie experience with a comedy stand-up? You get the perfect creation of Kevin Hart’s LAUGH AT MY PAIN .  This movie captures Kevin Hart’s most successful comedy tour yet and takes us behind the scenes to where all his creativity began. He grew up in a bad neighborhood in Philadelphia with just his mother, as his father was a drug addict who wasn’t welcome at the home. Despite his father’s addictions Kevin was still able to have a relationship with him. Their relationship wasn’t what most would call normal, but regardless it definitely played a key role in LAUGH AT MY PAIN.  Even as a successful comedian, Kevin is one to proudly state he can’t flaunt as if spending money isn’t a thing to him. He portrays his endless scenarios of when putting up large sums of money becomes a problem. Li

You is KIND You is SMART You is IMPORTANT

How many of us find ourselves feeling low? Has anyone put you down? Was that person that put you down the very closest person to you? Were you left vulnerable and without any hope? It has happened to us all and if it hasn’t no worries it will, it is part of life. What makes this a good part of life is that you will have something positive come out of it. It might not be that person who hurt you bringing your spirits back up but it will be someone. Someone like Aibileen.  In the The Help , a group of strong willed warmhearted women show us all that hope can exist within ourselves. Aibileen and Minny are best friends who have always been The Help in Jackson, along with their other African American companions. They are constantly thrown obstacles and insulted by their “owners.”   They live in fear, poverty and are often humiliated by the regulations the white folk make them follow. These people think they know so much and cannot possibly associate themselves at the same level as The

Friends With Benefits

We've all had them, no need to deny it. What's better than getting the one thing you want without having to deal with titles. You can get the job done then hang out and go bowling the next day. If only it was always that easy. Whether you want the emotions or not sometimes they sneak up on you, despite your every effort to avoid them.  Friends With Benefits is your classic Hollywood Chick Flick with countless laughs and perfect eye candy. Justin Timberlake, who plays Dylan, and Mila Kunis, who plays Jaime, have the most amazing chemistry together. Nothing compared to the lack of chemistry present in Justin's flop move Bad Teacher . Dylan and Jaime are horrible at relationships as it's one failed attempt after another. Dylan meets Jaime when she picks him up for a job interview which he ends up landing  in New York. They soon discover they could provide the one thing they wanted without being official. They develop a friendship that we all search for. The kind where y

Fight for What You Deserve

Who said Chick Flicks couldn't be wild? African Cats is a movie that reaches out to help preserve the life of animals in need while still being a Chick Flick. African Cats follows the life of lions, lionesses and cheetahs as they fight to stay alive. It is hard not to fall in love with the young cubs like Mara. Mara is the only daughter to Layla, the oldest and most experienced lioness. Layla is an independent lioness who fights until the end to protect not only her daughter but the complete pack. As the protagonist in the film, Layla leads by example by displaying her never ending courage and strength. She is a single mother who is able to take on the role as a leader and overcomes many struggles. The independence, challenges and loss captured in this film make it a qualified Chick Flick. Not only does African cats motivate young females and gives hope to single mothers who are facing their own challenges, but it raises money to preserve the wildlife and wild lands of Africa.

Just Go With It

Imagine this. You are at a bar and you overhear a man explaining to the good looking woman sitting next to him that he has not seen his wife in months. She has deserted her duties as a wife and mother to their 15 adopted children. The attracted woman we shall call, Naive, is eating his miserable story up and says he should go home with her so she can show him what he deserves with a seductive look. Off they go to begin their rendezvous. Believable? Only in the movies, so Just go With It.             Jennifer Aniston, Katherine, and Adam Sandler, Danny, play the ideal duo for this movie. She is the assistant of Danny and happens to be a single mother of two children. He is a wealthy plastic surgeon who had his heart broken on his wedding day. Since then he has taken on the life of faking near divorce, neglectful and horrendous marriages in order to persuade these stunning and young women to sleep with him. His perfect plan has continued to work until he meets a particular girl, Palmer,

Chick Flicks Make History

What does the term chick flick mean to you? Are you into chick flicks? What have chick flicks done for the film industry? Have chick flicks always been called chick flicks? When I think of a chick flick I think of a movie I can see with all my girlfriends on a Girl’s Night In. I think of a movie starring a young attractive actress who meets the love her life only to be heartbroken but soon rescued by another guy she never thought she would fall for.  Chick Flicks are usually released around a holiday we all either love or hate. No, not Tax Day. It is actually Valentine's Day, the so called holiday invented by Corporate America. Despite the time of release, Chick Flicks targeted to young females who can relate to the life of the featured protagonist. As mentioned before there is always a protagonist who leads by example. She usually falls in love, becomes a successful individual or overcomes a great struggle. In many ways this featured hopeful gives aspirations for the millions of
